Fashion Week is always a beautiful celebration of fashion, but behind the glamorous shows lie crucial challenges for designers. Lack of budget is one of the biggest obstacles creators face.

With high production costs, Fashion Week involves significant expenses for the design, manufacturing and presentation of collections. The costs of creating high-quality clothing and staging a fashion show can be heavy for young designers or less funded houses.

Furthermore, the costs of participating in Fashion Week, including costs related with renting a location, promotion and participation in associated events, also represent a significant financial burden.

Designers still use strategies to manage budgetary constraints. Collaborations with sponsors, brands or partners help ease the financial burden. Partnerships with brands or companies sometimes can allow to benefit from financial support or materials.

Additionally, designers seek to maximize the use of available resources, including reducing production costs, using recycled materials or reusing fabrics to minimize waste.

For Fashion Week 2024, many designers have made the courageous choice not to present their collections in a fashion show, opting for a 100% digital presentation via photos or videos. Other designers have decided to produce one collection per year in order to fight against overconsumption and of course to reduce their financial costs.

Paradoxically, these financial constraints can sometimes encourage innovation, pushing designers to find creative solutions to present quality collections despite the limitations.
